Turkey enjoys a low crime rate.
Image Istanbul is the safest major city in the world, according to a European Union study.
TOTAL CRIMES PER CAPITAL.  Turkey ranks 54 in the world, lower than the UK which ranks number 6.
But, as everywhere else in the world, crime is on the increase, particularly street crime, such as pickpocketing  and bag-snatching, so take all the usual common-sense precautions as you would elsewhere.
